Hell, I’ve even thought the same things before, “this person is crushing it! They are consistently putting out great content. How the heck is everything… Read More

How to start a blog (for non-techy people)

Starting a blog is freakin’ scary. You have to figure out how to work these intimidating techy elements, then decide if you start on Weebly, Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, and on and on. I get it. And honestly, confession time- I used to not be a techy person at all. I mean, setting up a printer via IP address was a… Read More

Sh*t People Say To Entrepreneurs

Sh*t People Say To Entrepreneurs

Sometimes, as entrepreneurs, we get asked weird things. Things that make you scratch your head and say, “did I just hear that correctly?” Turns out you’re in good company. In dire need of support and reassurance, I turned to my fellow personal finance bloggers to see what kind of weird stuff they get asked. The results are hilarious! The video… Read More

Push Goals

Push Goals

Yesterday I went for a run- despite having a million things I should be doing.   While running I was listening to a podcast episode from The Chalene Show. (This lady speaks to me!)   Her entire episode is why goal setting typically fails. We set goals to help us improve in our financial life + family + social + career +… Read More

Tips for thrifting + making cheddar (…money)

Thrifting has a weird rap.  Some people love it. Some people think it’s dirty and gross.  Guys, sadly, I used to think it was dirty and gross.  Growing up I had shopped at thrift shops and used to be so embarrassed about it. You’ve got to get past the lady with her finger in her nose, not a care in the… Read More

Why being afraid is a GOOD thing

Why being afraid is a GOOD thing

Fear has such a negative connotation. We are all told to face our fears, or even shy away from our fears. Of course the latter is implied indirectly. I agree that we should face our fears, but even more than that I really do believe that being afraid can be a good thing. A damn good thing.  When we are… Read More

6 Ways to Earn Money With a Busy Schedule

6 Ways to Earn Money With a Busy Schedule

One of the top things keeping people from following their dreams is lack of money, and one of the top things keeping people from making money is lack of time. I feel like I am always hearing from my 20-something year old peers that there just “isn’t enough time to work full-time and get good grades.” But I disagree! You don’t… Read More

I *might* have enough money for a (unusable at the I *might* have enough money for a (unusable at the moment) ✈️ plane ticket for every time I have heard someone say they:

✖️Pay for a monthly service
✖️Bank at a specific financial institution
✖️Use a financial advisor
✖️Invest their money in a specific way

Or make any other financial decision solely because their parent told them to.

It’s not only okay, it’s healthy to make financial decisions based on what’s best for YOU.

And sometimes that means going against the grain of what works for your parents or friends.
Our phase 1 of the kitchen remodel includes:
✖️ installing a kitchen island
✖️painting the kitchen cabinets
✖️ replacing kitchen backsplash

We decided to save the money and NOT replace cabinets or countertops this year (since we are working on some real estate projects).

But there is a blog post live on WhitneyHansen.com with a full tutorial of how to paint your own kitchen cabinets... without sanding.

It was a 2/10 on the difficulty process and 10/10 on the transformation process.😍
