Last week I celebrated another incredible year on earth. Life is really short, so I feel very blessed to be alive and given another day to chase my dreams. I thought it might be kinda fun to share with you lessons I’ve learned over 27 years.
- Money does not gender discriminate. Female or male you still have to learn how to manage your funds.
- The best money you will ever spend is on giving…
- …the second best is traveling.
- No matter how much experience you have, you will still feel inadequate at times.
- I shoulda started that business when I was 21.
- Our excuses, no matter how legitimate they are, will ruin your life.
- I’m beyond blessed to live in America. My daily struggles are another person’s dream life.
- Money shouldn’t be accumulated for the sake of accumulation. It’s about what you will do with that money when you are gone.
- People are really good. For every jerk there are twice as many beautiful souls.
- If your happiness is put in others or in material items, you will always be chasing happiness…
- …and you have everything you need for happiness, right now- even without the six figure job or your dream house.
- Meditation is not woo-woo, it’s essential!
- Health comes first. Always go to gym, get sleep, watch what you eat, and treat your body right.
- Your perfect day is only a couple small tweaks away.
- There is a difference between passionate love (aka lust) and compassionate love. Compassionate love grows in time. Passionate love fades.
- Nothing comes without sacrifice.
- You really are the average of the 5 people closest to you.
- Women should always, always, always, focus on their own career and never give up their dreams. And women do NOT have to choose between having a family and having a career.
- Fail early, fail often. Failing on a regular basis makes you human, and gives you experience.
- What you study in college is not the end all be all. It’s okay to not work in your field of study.
- When you find what lights you up (work you enjoy), RUN after it! Do not even give yourself time to think twice.
- Overthinking hurts. Perfectionism is unattainable. Strive to be perfectly imperfect.
- Embracing your weirdness is way more fun than faking a personality. Just be you. People like you more for that anyways.
- Gratitude is the key to happiness.
- When it comes to debt, work your ass off until it’s gone. Your progress is reflected in your level of commitment and attitude towards the debt.
- Everything is connected. The way you treat your body, is reflected in your bank account. Your relationship with your partner will impact your career.
- Everything is temporary. Quit the job you hate, work 100 hours a week to pay off debt, book the trip to Hawaii, remove negative people from your life. The pain you feel is temporary. And the worst case scenario isn’t really that bad.
