Yesterday I went for a run- despite having a million things I should be doing.
While running I was listening to a podcast episode from The Chalene Show. (This lady speaks to me!)
Her entire episode is why goal setting typically fails. We set goals to help us improve in our financial life + family + social + career + health + personal development + spiritual goals. At least I hope you do.
But we never seem to achieve them. Why?
Chalene’s theory on this is that we need to focus on push goals.
A push goal is a goal that once completed will drastically impact your life + help you achieve many other goals.
For example- my push goal is to grow my business.
By growing my business, I will be able to accomplish a ton of other goals on my list. I can travel more frequently, live part-time on the Oregon coast, I can have more wine and patio time, and I can start a scholarship program to help others pay for school.
So the push goal was created AFTER writing down my standard goals.
Chalene is also a big fan of goal setting for 3 month durations instead of the typical 1 year from now.
[Tweet “Setting goals in 3 month increments might be more effective than 1 year goals. “]
This had me curious- what does my ambitious, mindful, successful digital family think about this?
Do you feel that setting goals for 3 months instead of 1 year and creating a push goal that you focus all your energy on, would work better for you?
Comment below and let me know.
I would love to have this conversation with you and hear your thoughts on goal setting. (It’s such a fun discussion!)
Forever livin’ debt free,
